Hello! I'm Lourdes Bentancor, owner of Ronnie's Bakery and Cakes by Lou

I came to Hilton Head, South Carolina in 2000 from Uruguay and began working at a local bakery. I fell in love with baking, especially cake decorating.

Before I knew it, I bought Ronnie's Bakery on the island and soon opened a second store. I needed help so my parents came to my rescue and we all pitched in. Ronnie's Bakery is now located in Bluffton, South Carolina.

I knew my future was in specialty cake decorating, so I started taking classes in Chicago at the Wilton School. Within a short period of time I was taking Master Courses in cake decorating an now go every year to all sorts of bakery and cake decorating conventions all over the United States.

I love to create someone's special occasion cake. My customers come in with their idea and I immediately start visualizing the decoration in my mind.

I especially love to make wedding cakes. It is an important day for that couple and their guests and I know lots of people get to see and eat my creation.

I love the challenge of doing something different and I love to see the expressions on my customers faces when they come to my store to pick up the cake.

The TV cake decorating shows have made more people interested in customized and specialty decorated cakes and cupcakes.
